The Microchip RE46C401 is a low-power smoke detector Analog Front End (AFE) intended for panel-based applications. The AFE provides all the needed analog, interface and power regulation functions for a microcontroller-(MCU) based multicriteria smoke detector. It can be powered from a constant current source typically used in panel-based applications. The RE46C401 features an integrating photo amplifier to interface with a photoelectric smoke chamber, two independently controlled programmable LED drivers, an analog buffer circuit (ABUF) for monitoring system voltages and a 3.3V regulator. For designs needing built-in CO or toxic gas detection, please see the RE46C400. The RE46C401 is capable of meeting UL 268 7th Edition specifications and can be easily adapted in a routinely changing regulatory environment with its programmable design and rich feature set.
