The Microchip maXTouch mXT540E-AT mutual capacitance touchscreen controller is designed for touchscreens of up to 8" diagonal or even larger. The highly responsive IC is able to identify up to sixteen touches on the touchscreen and enables shieldless single layer touch sensors as well as gloved operation. With advanced touch processing, the device embeds a variety of single and dual touch gestures, and rejects unintentional touches caused, e.g., by a resting palm, while correctly interpreting light touches.
